I received ur e-mail through a network of friends. The issue of discrimination of women is eating our society from inside. I belong to a typical north Indian family and i am the oldest daughter with two younger sisters and a brother. I am about to get married in one years time. When my marriage was sure to take place my mum informed me that i should make sure i have sons only because life had been such a hell for her as she only gave birth to daughters and had two abortions- and finally had a boy. My mum is an educated woman and a teacher in a college. I have also been blessed with a good education. I am working in a known Indian company. Im writing all this to share how forward we can be yet hot behind we r when it comes to status of women and girls. How can this be changed??
November 1, 2007 2:35 PM

Definition

Female infanticide: the prevalent form of sex-selective infanticide, is the systematic killing of girls at or soon after birth.
